Interview with... Linda Poitevin!

Hello and welcome to my interview with

Linda Poitevin, author of SINS OF THE ANGELS!

You can learn more about the book series and the author below. But first, let's learn more about the book!

SINS OF THE ANGELS

Author: Linda Poitevin
Series: Grigori Legacy #1
Publisher: Ace
Publication Date: September 27, 2011

Summary:
A detective with a secret lineage. An undercover Hunter with a bullet-proof soul. And a world made to pay for the sins of an angel...

Homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis answers to no one. Especially not to the new partner assigned to her in the middle of a gruesome serial killer case-a partner who is obstructive, irritatingly magnetic, and arrogant as hell. Aramael is a Power--a hunter of the Fallen Angels. A millennium ago, he sentenced his own brother to eternal exile for crimes against humanity. Now his brother is back and wreaking murderous havoc in the mortal realm. To find him, Aramael must play second to a human police officer who wants nothing to do with him and whose very bloodline threatens both his mission and his soul.

Now, faced with a fallen angel hell-bent on triggering the apocalypse, Alex and Aramael have no choice but to join forces, because only together can they stop the end of days.

Describe SINS OF THE ANGELS in 10 words or less.

Linda Poitevin: Warrior angel meets lady cop. Universal chaos ensues. ;)

How long did it take you to write the first draft?

Linda Poitevin: Ten years

Which was your favourite scene to write?

Linda Poitevin: That’s tough, without spoilers! I think it would have to be the black moment in the book...when our heroine realizes how she feels about our warrior angel, but knows there is no future for them. There was a lot of emotion in that scene, and I love writing emotional scenes.

Who was your favourite character to write and why?

Linda Poitevin: Our warrior angel, Aramael. He truly is between a rock and a hard place in the story, none of it through his own doing, and he struggles mightily to remain honorable and angelic. His is not an easy path, and my heart ached for him when I was writing him.

Which character would you most like to be friends with?

Linda Poitevin: Alex. She doesn’t open up and share well, and I think she could use a friend who understands the choices she is forced to make. Who better to be that friend, right? ;)

What was the most difficult part of writing a series?

Linda Poitevin: Not realizing I was writing a series. Sins of the Angels was intended to be a standalone book, but the story kept growing. Without a story arc and some series plotting in place, I kept writing in stuff that I then had to continue working with in future books. It made for some interesting dilemmas...I don’t recommend my method...

What can we expect to see in the GRIGORI LEGACY that we haven’t seen before in paranormal romance novels?

Linda Poitevin: Well, the series is dark urban fantasy rather than PNR, so I’d start with giving up on most of your romantic ideals, because I am not nice to my characters. ;) As for what you can expect, I’d say a definite twist on angel mythology. The angels of the GRIGORI LEGACY are deeply flawed but overwhelmingly loyal to the One (who, incidentally, is female), and that makes for some interesting conflicts and choices.

Linda Poitevin is a writer possessed of both a light side and a dark one. On the dark side, she’s the author of the Grigori Legacy, an urban fantasy series featuring a hard-as-nails cop caught up in the war between Heaven and Hell. In her lighter moments, she writes the sweet and funny Ever After contemporary romance series. And when she’s not plotting the world’s downfall or next great love story, she’s a wife, mom, friend, coffee snob, gardener, walker of a Giant Dog, minion to the Itty Bitty Kitty, and avid food preserver (you know, just in case that whole Zombie Apocalypse thing really happens).
